I like this prompt. The other morning when I was lying in bed with Marco, sniffing my teddy, I announced that I had made my first proper grown up decision. Hobo (the teddy I sniff) is going for a wash!
He has been washed; many times. Normally this decision is made by someone else and I reluctantly agree… not this time!!
Of course, that was a tongue in cheek statement from me.
I’m daft, I’m silly, I’m occasionally childish.
Yet I am responsible.
My mum left my Dad when I was 8, so my Dad was a single parent to 4 children (I’m the youngest), and we were perpetually skint. I worked on a paper round, I sold macaroon and tablet to my neighbours and I washed cars. When I was old enough I washed dishes in a local hotel. I used this ‘pocket money’ for shampoo, and other necessities.
I grew up at a young age, yet I have somehow managed to not grow up at all. One of my all time favourite quotes is:
We don’t stop playing because we get old, we get old because we stop playing.
– George Bernard Shaw
