It wasnt that long ago that I posted about my new bedroom in the flat. Todays post is about my new, new bedroom, as I had to give in to my beau and let him have the big room back as a jamming room. Fair doos, all of his musical stuff didn’t quite fit in the old room, never mind him and friends playing the stuff. I have my woolly room that has all things me in it, so fair is fair. That being said, I was VERY reluctant to move as I loved my new room! But alas, the room we’re moving into is warmer, quieter and darker. Three ingredients for a good nights sleep!
Phase 1 – Strip the wall paper. I did this bit myself
Phase 2. Paint the wall and gloss the things that need glossed
Phase 2 – Get the new floor down.
Luckily for us we had Schmercs wee brother on hand to help. I stripped the walls, glossed and painted the walls. Foo painted the walls too, touched up my glossing and assisted Schmerc in the first part of the flooring. Here they are hard at work:
This room was so dark, I almost found it hard to imagine how we could spruce it up.
I had a theme in my head, based around some blue curtains I sourced. The curtains didnt fit (too short) and they weren’t the best anyhoo.
I helped put the actual flooring down on top of the hard board. Yay, go me!
Schmerc and I took a trip to Ikea and found the most amazing rug EVER… and bought a few other things including… BROWN CURTAINS!! I freaking love brown!! The addition of brown into the room meant that I could put up a picture that the lovely Vanya bought me for Christmas a few years ago…. a brilliant orange and brown retro dot pattern, in true LT style!!
We took great delight in moving our nick nacks through from the old room, and the finished thing is a perfect mish mash of both of us. I LOVE it. It doesn’t look anything like what I imagined at the beginning, but I guess that’s good as we free styled and suited both of us. What do you think?
See the picture? Retro dots rock. The picture on the right is a photo-shopped picture from the Wickerman Festival 2010.
There are so many things I love about this room now. Clean, fresh magnolia walls. Nice floor. Boarded in fire-place with candles. Cats. My teddies. And colour. Lots and lots of lovely colour that makes my heart smile.
All in all I’m very happy with our new space. If feels right.
Arrrghhhh. I cant wait to go home and look at it some more!!
Yup. I’m a gaybo!!
LT x
Gaybo or not I love the design of the carpet!! and your faux fireplace very nice!
Thank you! I love the rug too 🙂 We could probably get the chimney cleared and fix up the fire, but thats a bit overkill (and dangerous). I’ll get round to painting the wood backing some time. Thanks for stopping by 🙂 LT x
Of course anytime. Please keep posting pics of what your doing. Take a look on my page if you’re looking for any inspirations.
